New regulations for access to Peru’s Machu Picchu from January 2019

As part of its commitment to preserve Peru’s national heritage, the Ministry of Culture has established a schedule for visits to the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, which will enter into effect from January 1st, 2019.

The new schedule composes of nine entry times, at one-hour intervals, beginning at 06:00 hours and ending at 15:00 hours.

The closing time will be from 17:00 to 17:30 hours.

The maximum time allotted for visiting the Sanctuary is 04 hours, except for the two last shifts that conclude with the closing time of the Sanctuary.

(*) Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary can be accessed from 06:00 hours; however, access to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain is permitted between 07:00 and 08:00 hours. We recommend visiting Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain first, and then touring the Inca city.

(**) Visitors to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain who select these entry times can enter the Sanctuary one hour before and make their way to the entrance of the attraction they have selected.

The Obvious Choice will do everything possible to keep our travelers fully informed regarding any modifications in current entry times, to ensure that they enjoy the best possible experience during their stay in Peru.
